Founder & Student

I’m Mateo. I study (and obsess over) biotech, make memories, and write about what I learn. If you ever see me walking down the street, I’m probably thinking about how to close the gap in biotech funding, what time I need to leave for hockey, or a quote from a podcast that won’t leave my head. Before you go or stay, read this:
You’re allowed to take over the world your way.

About

A biochemical engineer now doing a master’s in molecular biotechnology & bioinformatics.Believe it or not, it was a movie that brought me here, and the desire to help as many people as I can. Naturally, 1+1 made 2, and I became obsessed with the intersection of science and business.Since 2003, I've been living fueled by curiosity and always seeking the next challenge. More about what I'm working on in My Projects, what’s happening behind the scenes in Blog, and my story just below this.

Truth is.

My goal is to share the multidecade journey of building the biotech I dream about. All the growth, mistakes, and discoveries along the way. If you take anything from this, let it be this: study how others did it, then remix it into something that feels like you.

I was born in Quito, Ecuador. Ever since I can remember, I have been competitive and curious. My days were full of sports, magic, music, art and adventures.Feeding my endless curiosity about how things work. As already written, I fell in love with...

Taking bold action

It turns out you really can only connect the dots looking back. What started as curiosity for marketing, storytelling, and sales. Slowly took me back to where I actually want to be playing - biotech.Today, all the dots point to the work I’m doing now:

BioFundable is my attempt to fix the biotech “Valley of Death”. The funding gap where proven science dies because the business inside isn’t clear. I help biotech founders translate their great science into de-risked clarity. Money flows as a function of stories.

Past work that shaped how I move.

Behind the scenes

I train like a multi-sport athlete. I’ve been to +21 countries. I learn by following my curiosity. My inputs are founders’ biographies, long walks, notebooks full of ideas, and podcasts that hit way too close.I’m building a life that feels aligned, not inherited. And I’m looking for people on a similar path (founders, explorers, athletes) anyone deep enough to DM me.I don’t write often.
Only when something feels worth sharing. If you’re curious, check out my blog (Mateo's Rabbit Burrow)🐇
